The purpose of this Freedom Ride and Rally is to raise public awareness about our soldiers/Marines who have fallen victim to the military's "Catch and Release" policy and difficult ROEs.
In addition, we want the public to know that if a soldier/Marine is convicted of a combat related killing, their salary is forfeited and any benefits, such as retirement, medical, PX, and commissary are also forfeited making it difficult for their families to survive. Many of the Leavenworth Ten families don't have the excess funds to visit their soldier/Marine while they are serving time at the Disciplinary Barracks in Ft. Leavenworth.
Since the families also suffer financial hardship as a result of these convictions, funds raised during this event will be used by the families to fund their legal defense, provide medical care for their children, pay living expenses, and travel to Ft. Leavenworth to visit their loved one.
